The Virgin Islands Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (VI-SBEAP) in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI-SBDC) held a compliance workshop for Dry Cleaners and Laundromats on August 24, 2016.

Ms. Jasmine A. Blyden, Territorial Program Coordinator of SBEAP provided a general overview of environmental regulations and compliance, best management practices, pollution prevention, and safety techniques that can be applied to their operations. Using these performance-base approach techniques will help make the work environment safer for all employees, promote better community relations, and protect the environment. Another guest speaker was Mrs. Maricel Flores-Diaz, OSHA Safety Consultant from Safety In Paradise of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI-CELL). The OSHA on-site consultation services is a voluntary request of an employer that provides free and confidential safety and health advice to small and medium sized businesses committed to improving and correcting unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.
