The Safety In Paradise Program (SIP) in conjunction with the V.I. Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will be offering a free orientation session for small businesses.  The session will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the SBDC Training Facility located in Nisky Center on St. Thomas.  The first session will be held at 10:00 a.m. and will be conducted in English, followed by a session at 11:00 a.m. in Spanish.

Participants will be provided with an overview of the SIP program, find out the difference between the enforcement and consolation programs, learn about recent OSHA enforcement activities and associated fines, common workplace safety and health hazards, and discover why safety pays.

Safety In Paradise is a free, confidential service provided by the University of the Virgin Islands Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL). Although funded primarily through Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the service is independent of federal or local OSHA enforcement.

For more information on the sessions contact the SIP office at (340) 693-1146 or email Maricel Flores-Diaz at maricel.floresdiaz@uvi.edu
